He Turned My Life into a Triumph!
by Lisa Johnson
I have been a member of Light of the World Christian Church all of my life, but once I became married, my new husband wanted me to worship at his home church that was also located in Indianapolis. I did what I thought God would want me to do by being a Godly wife by becoming a member of my husband's church.
Once I was married, my husband became very abusive. He was physically and emotionally abusive to me. I began to become angry with God, blaming Him for my mistakes in my life. I stopped going to church and became a bitter and angry woman. I had three sons with my husband, and one night the beating from him was so severe that I remember praying to God. I said "Lord, if I survive this then I promise you that I will live for you!" I started to call out, "Jesus! Jesus!", and the beating stopped. My husband ran out of the house.
I immediately got off of the floor, looked at myself in the mirror and saw what I needed to do. My sons were sleeping, so I called the police, put all of their clothes and mine in trash bags, and we fled our home, never to return.
We went to my mother's home to live, I returned back home to MY home church, Light of the World, and began living for God again.
Needless to say God worked it out so that I have custody of my boys, I am now a Guidance Counselor at a middle school in the city, a full time Seminarian at Christian Theological Seminary in their Masters of Divinity program, and I have written two books to be self published in the fall.
God is good! He saved me from a tragedy and turned my life and the life of my children into a triumph!
